Hi all, I'm having several intermittent faults with my 2007 C4 Picasso 1.6 HDi. 1) Handbrake faulty 2) ESP/ASR fault (which I presume is linked to the handbrake issue) Both of these correct themselves if I turn off the ignition and start the car again but return, sometimes very quickly sometimes I can drive for quite a while before they return.
Don't bank on the Ford being any better. We used to have both a 1.6HDi Focus and a C4. It was the Ford that was in the garage all the time racking up bills for clutches, not starting and electrical faults. And the C4 was more comfortable and used less fuel. So we got shut of the Focus and bought new C4. Which has been as good as the old one.
In June 2016, a recall was issued for Citroen C4 Picasso vehicles because a manufacturing flaw for the door locks could cause the internal mechanism of one or more locks to jam – this could prevent one or more of the doors from closing, or expose them to unexpected unlocking and opening.
I took it to the Citroen garage and they "reset" the software, but this did not resolve the fault. I read elsewhere on the forum that the reset needs to be done when the car is cold. So I brought it back to Citroen and they said they loaded "new" software (but they still did it while the car was warm despite my concern). My car is now worse!
3.1-While driving. When the ESP warning light comes on when you are driving your Citroen C4 Picasso, do not worry, this is normal, it informs you that the ESP device works in particular when you take turns. The sensors send data to the computer which will analyze them and, if necessary, activate the electronic assistance systems.
First step was to replace the brake switch, but to no effect. Second step was to remove fuse one from the engine bay panel (BSI), scrape the holder blades and clean the tarnish off the fuse. That seems to have fixed it. Despite the box having a tight cover there was a lot of dark grey dust in it.
What to look for when buying a Citroën Grand C4 Picasso 2014 - 2018, covering common problems to check for and overall vehicle reliability.
Lift and support the vehicle. Disconnect the connector (at "a"). Remove the bolt (1) of the rear wheel speed sensor. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor (2). When refitting, avoid impacts to the head of the rear wheel sensor. Tightening Torque of the Rear Speed sensor bolt is 1 daNm. Then run another Global Test and clear the fault codes.
