Fallout 3 is written better, with better characters, a more immersive game world, better endings, better dialogue, better game play, better graphics and most importantly of all, it is a sci fi game not a western with lasers. Yes you can craft some weapons, but the number is so little that is more of fetch quest than crafting system. Fo4 on other hand have a fully working craft system that can mod entire weapons almost from scratch. I guess. But Iâve actually used the new Vegas crafting system to help me out in quests.
New Vegas is a game thatâs amazing when it comes to gameplay and terrible when it comes to performance. Unmodded Fallout 3 runs better than new Vegas does with bug fix mods included. If you want an experience thatâs even somewhat close to smooth then yes mods are 100% essential.
Usually, the first Fallout game you play will be your favourite. As New Vegas is closer to Fallout 1 in style than Fallout 3, you'll probably prefer it. But a lot of people who were introduced to the series with 3 were blown away by the huge sprawling sandbox and excellent free-roaming, and so 1, 2 and New Vegas ended up disappointing them.
